Japanese imports.
I have been decided on wanting an Lexus LS for over a year. I am now settled on wanting a 460 or 600h. Looking seriously now, but having difficulty in finding an importer that I can trust. I have found a dealer in Melbourne that I would trust to import for me, but not having much luck finding one nearer Sydney. The import yard dealerships that I have contacted in Sydney so far do not do private imports, or import based on my specifications. They only offer for sale cars that they have placed on

MAF Ignorance Is Bliss?
My Lexus LS600H hybrid runs great. , Accelerates like a rocket, idles smoothly. Pleasant fuel economy around 8-9 kilometres per litre. But out of curiosity I plugged in an OBD2 Ble Driver sensor... and perhaps I shouldn't've done that. It's showing excellent short term fuel trims for both banks. Long term are somewhat high. However, Mass Air Flow is way too high. The engine wants to run rich, and the computer is doing its best to make adjustments. So when my ignorance was bliss I had no concern

Yikes, Where's The Engine
Just took the engine cover off my JDM LS600H which I've had for a few months and zI can't see where the 5 litre V8 begins and ends! At 110,0000 km I'd like to tackle the spark plugs but it's confronting to find them. Just did the valve cover gaskets and 12 plugs on my Chrysler Crossfire, but that looked a fun afternoon compared to the Lexus. Anyone changed the spark plugs?

Japanese imports.
Leadfoot6 replied to Leadfoot6's topic in Lexus LS400 / Lexus LS430 / LS460 / LS600 / Toyota Celsior ClubHello, Sorry for not responding earlier, but I have lost a lot of enthusiasm for this forum because of the lack of responses to my question, which I considered to be a "bread and butter" question for a forum of this type. This has led to me not checking this forum as regularly as before. It seems there are almost no people here with the backbone to stick their neck out. Having said that, I appreciate your reply. Yes, I have been closely watching Unibee stock. One problem is that they are in Melbourne, and I am south of Sydney, and it would take some effort for me to get there if I purchased from a yard in Melbourne, or Adelaide, or..... It is a possibility, but it would not be my first option. There are any number of "import" yards in Sydney that offer the same service as Unibee, if not necessarily having the same levels of Hybrid offerings. Secondly, I believe that I can get a car for a lower price trying to import it myself if I find the right importer. I believe that I have found one, south of Sydney, that often gets cars delivered to Port Kembla, which is only 45 minutes drive from me. Delivery to Port Kembla is not the #1 priority for me, but it does help lower the ultimate cost. Again, thank you for your reply, and I am looking forward to seeing more of your posts about keeping your 600 running well. Does anyone else have any "importer" insights? Lexyhybrid's posts are just what I am looking for.

MAF Ignorance Is Bliss?
rich1068 replied to lexyhybrid's topic in Lexus LS400 / Lexus LS430 / LS460 / LS600 / Toyota Celsior ClubNot too familiar with the LS600h but there's usually a way to force these cars to run on engine power while up to temperature and stationary.

MAF Ignorance Is Bliss?
lexyhybrid replied to lexyhybrid's topic in Lexus LS400 / Lexus LS430 / LS460 / LS600 / Toyota Celsior ClubJust a little update...I cleaned the two MAF sensors, easy to remove them, squirted them with MAF sensor cleaner, dried and put them back. They seem to have improved with reading around 5 g/s, which is spot on. But hard to tell because if you take a reading when the engine is idling cold the engine has to run rich...and if you wait till it's warm, and car stationary, the engine switches itself off, has the hybrid does.

MAF Ignorance Is Bliss?
lexyhybrid replied to lexyhybrid's topic in Lexus LS400 / Lexus LS430 / LS460 / LS600 / Toyota Celsior ClubRich, curiosity would get the better of me -- even though some cars appear to be going beautifully, I'd need to confirm it to myself. Kinda like when you're feeling hot, but it takes a thermometer to tell if you have a fever.
